Dr. Joshi brings over a decade of expertise in research and development, with a focus on participatory natural resource management, REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation), climate change adaptation and mitigation, and the resource inventory of high- value non-timber forest products (NTFPs). His areas of specialization include ecosystem services assessment, forest certification (FSC, PEFC, and FairWild and Organic), sustainable forest management, natural product value chain development, community-based enterprise development, biomass-based energy promotion, forest carbon modeling, ecosystem restoration, as well as the application of GIS and remote sensing technologies. Dr. Joshi has worked in various capacities across Nepal, India, Bhutan, and the Philippines, contributing to numerous national and international initiatives. Among his significant achievements, he has supported and led several government projects, including the development and revision of Nepal’s Forest Reference Emission Level (FREL) for REDD+ implementation. Currently affiliated with the Association of Family Forest Owners (AFFON) Nepal, Dr. Joshi plays an active role in project design, planning, implementation, and capacity-building activities. Dr. Joshi holds a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Forestry and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Forestry, underscoring his strong academic foundation and professional contributions to responsible forest management and climate action.
