On the auspicious ocassion of National Plantation Day, 2,000 saplings of Timur have been planted in Pratapkot, Dang as the initiation of Timur plantation campaign in the invaluable presence of Mr. Ghanshyam Pandey, Mayor Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City and DFO Dang Mr. Dipak Gyawali and many other stakeholders amidst members of District Chapter Dang .
This campaign initiated by AFFON is aimed at developing family forests in Dang along with agro-forestry practices for mitigating climate change and minimizing it’s hazards. Timur has been planted on two vacant plots of land in Pratapkot Secondary School. Preparations have been made to plant 2,000 saplings in the first phase of all the houses in the community. Wards 1,3 & 4 of Sub-metropolitan have been selected as the good potential area for Timur plantation !
Meanwhile Mr. Pandey planted a Timur plant and inaugurated the campaign in the support of District Chapter AFFON, Dang ! He stated that such activities have been taken forward saying that we should create opportunities for those returnees in search of plows and land due to COVID-19!
Whereas, Chief of the Forest Division Office, Dang Mr. Gyawali added even under normal circumstances, a Timur plant can earn up to 3,000 a year if it is produced well ! He added that the hill of Tulsipur was very useful for Timur cultivation , if one can cultivate commercially, one can earn a lot even in a small place.
Mr. MeghRaj Bhusal , Vice-President Province 5, AFFON has brought a program to develop Pratapkot as a hub of Timur. He said that preparations have been made to plant massive number of Timur saplings ( 15,000) in the area
! Chairperson, AFFON Dang Mr. Padam KC informed that the free distribution was done to attract the farmers towards Timur farming. The program was conducted by Secretary Dang Mr. Bhimarjun Regmi.
