Association of Family Forest Owners Nepal (AFFON) organised 2 days workshop on 28-29 May 2016 entitled “Formulation of Strategic Plan of AFFON” with the support of Care International in Nepal (CARE Nepal). The activity was facilitated by Resource Persons Mr. Ghana Shyam Pandey of Green Foundation Nepal- Chairperson, Global Alliance for Community Forestry (GACF) – Coordinator and Mr. Ramji Bhandari. Dr. Bharat Pokhrel, HELVETAS Nepal, also spoke on the scope of family forestry for Nepal during the workshop.
The workshop being a visioning workshop was mainly based on discussions and participatory approach. It was organized to have conceptual clearance on AFFON among the central committee members and to develop/formulate five years strategic plan of AFFON in achieving the institutional goal. These central committee members in turn will go back to their districts and help the district chapters of their working areas.
Some of the important outcomes of the workshops include SWOT analysis, identification of AFFONs working area, VMO setting, Stakeholders Analysis, and five years strategic plans to achieve the organizational objectives. Most important of all is that the institution aims to attain financial sustainability by making up for at least 50% of the annual budget through internal sources.
With the clear vision for the future, AFFON now will move forward to achieve them as well as to coordinate & collaborate with its identified stakeholders.
