Catalyzing Forest and Agriculture Enterprises: Upgrading and Scaling Through Private Sector Partnership: Association of Family Forest Owners Nepal (AFFON) Participation and Timur Stall Exhibition

Association of Family Forest Owners Nepal (AFFON) has participated as an exhibitor at the
Matchmaking/Business Pitching Event titled " Catalyzing Forest and Agriculture Enterprises:
Upgrading and Scaling Through Private Sector Partnership" co-organized by FAO Nepal,
Women CAN, and Aadhyanta Fund Management Limited, in collaboration with Federation of
Community Forest Users, Nepal (FECOFUN) on 25 th August, 2026. The program provided an
important platform for connecting forest and agricultural entrepreneurs, private-sector
businesses, and other stakeholders to promote sustainable enterprise development.
A key attraction of AFFON’s participation was the Timur (Sichuan pepper) stall exhibition.
AFFON chairperson Mr Jog Raj Giri, Program Coordinator Ms Merina Khadka and Timur
cultivation farmer Mr Tej Bahadur Yogi from Salyan participated in the event. The stall
showcased locally produced Timur and highlighted its potential as a valuable non-timber forest
product. Visitors learned about its production, processing, value addition, and opportunities for
marketing in both domestic and wider markets.
Through the exhibition, AFFON demonstrated how family-managed forests can contribute to
local livelihoods and rural economic growth. The event also encouraged stronger partnerships
between forest owners and private businesses, helping producers access better markets,
technology, investment, and value-chain opportunities. AFFON's participation and timur stall
can support the upgrading and scaling of forest and agriculture enterprises while creating greater
economic opportunities for rural communities.
AFFON like to appreciate to Hon. Gita Chaudhary, Minister in the Ministry of Agriculture,
Forest and Environment, Hon. Pukar malla, member of National Planning Commission, Mr
Deepa Oli, Under Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Forest and Environment, Forest and Farm
Facility Manager Ms Sophie Grouwels, Ms Rakshya Shah from FFF/FAO and many other
national and international visitors for visiting Timur's exhibition stall.
